Cow – An adult female.

Bull – An adult Male.

Ontario’s provincial coat of arms features a moose. 

Moose prefer colder climates. They cannot stand the heat much over 27 Degrees Celsius.  That’s when you will find them in the water trying to cool off. 

Moose are part of the Deer family (Cervidae). 

Moose are the tallest mammals in North America. 

Moose can kick in any direction with its front hooves. 

Only four subspecies of Moose are found in Canada. 

-Alaska/Yukon moose (Alces alces gigas)

-Shiras moose (Alces alces shirasi)

-Western Canada moose (Alces alces andersoni)

-Eastern Canada moose (Alces alces americana). 

Moose are herbivores and can eat up to 12 Kilos in a day!
